Welcome to RiverClan.
In this Clan, we believe in honor. Loyalty. Integrity.
Serving your Clan is the ultimate duty a RiverClan cat may perform.
In blood, in debt, in honor. That is the way of the water. Let it mold you and guide you. Let it bring you to its heart. Listen; hear it whisper. Do you trust it?
TRADITION I
𝒮𝒽𝒶𝓇𝑒𝒹 𝒮𝒽𝑒𝓁𝓁𝓈
When two cats become romantically involved with one another, the tradition of sharing shells is performed when they wish to declare the publicity of their status together.
The leader, deputy, or medicine cat are able to perform the ceremony, in the marshes near the island. Shells are gathered from the sandy shore of the lake before the partners present them during the ceremony. Any cats of the Clan may attend, unless requested specifically by the pair.
During the ceremony, the pair would speak vows to one another if they so choose. Alternatively, they could do without it, and instead have the cat hosting the event say the ceremonial words:
"And so, it is written in the stars that these two will remain bound to one another, even in death. May StarClan bless them with a lifetime of stories."
From then on, the couple have neighboring nests within their den, two shells sitting right beside one another in a corner or in front of the nest.
TRADITION II
𝕋𝕙𝕖 ℝ𝕚𝕧𝕖𝕣 ℝ𝕦𝕟
On the longest day of the year, RiverClan has a holiday they like to call The River Run. This day, the Clan goes out to the lake to both celebrate and hunt, with all divers working to get the largest fish in a game that is usually played among warriors and apprentices alike. All prey caught gets added to a large pile on the shore back toward camp, letting it build as the day would progress. To keep the fish fresh, they are stored in the dens with the most protection from sunlight, even putting most of the first catch under earth. Other fishers, who mainly do so from the river, would catch their contributions and add it to the pile just as the others. The only difference is they have a different game of how many each cat caught.
Once the sun sets, the cats are to bring the entire catch home, and set it up in the center. The leader will conduct a speech of sorts during the second phase, going into the night before the feast would begin. The speech would usually consist of blessings from StarClan, how well the season was going, and other various victories the Clan faced since the last celebration four seasons ago. It is a celebration of life and bonding, keeping the Clan unified.
TRAINING, I
With RiverClan training, all cats go through a first moon's trial. In this trial, the mentor chosen will try to train the young cat and see how their progress develops. If they find that river fishing is extremely difficult, the mentor can find a cat who is good at diving to instruct the apprentice and see if it improves. If it does, the apprentice will be reassigned properly.
𝔻𝕚𝕧𝕚𝕟𝕘
Diving is considered the fishing for cats who prefer to use their whole body, and/or lack the patience for river fishing. It requires a hefty amount of strength, as well as speed to be able to catch the fish who are more in their element than any cat.
Being a successful diver requires a warrior's strength stat to at least be 10, and an agility stat of 10. This is to be able to, on average, be able to wrestle and catch the fish swiftly and efficiently. Divers CAN have a lower strength and agility stat, however will likely struggle more and will need to hunt with others.
Apprentices who show promise in becoming divers will likely have a strength stat of at least 6, and an agility stat of 6.
𝔽𝕚𝕤𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘
Cats who fish instead of dive will need quick wits and reflexes--something just as important in diving, however river fishing grants the hunter clear sight of the fish in the vicinity, as well as being able to learn river patterns of when fish travel most frequently. Most, if not all, RiverClan cats have the ability to learn how to fish in the river.
TRAINING, II
Something widely known among the Clans is that most of them are descendants of SkyClan, as early as mere generations ago. Such descendants are granted with the innate ability to climb trees well, and even hunt from them. Such cats have a taste for woodland prey, and will hunt them when they can.
𝕀𝕟 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕋𝕣𝕖𝕖𝕤
When young cats show potential for tapping into their SkyClan blood, warriors who have been similarly trained will be appointed their mentor. The training involves a need for speed, strength, and stamina, so that the cat may keep up with their prey or opponents.
No cat has a required skill tree for this training, as they are already born with the innate ability to climb and leap. The only differences any stats may make are how they hunt, and what they target.
